A simple family phone rules template
Less arguing, more clarity. Keep it small and consistent.

Start with values, not control
Rules work best when they protect something valuable: sleep, connection, school focus, or calm mornings.
The template (fill in the blanks)
Use these categories:
- Where: “No phones at the dinner table.”
- When: “No social apps before school.”
- How long: “30 minutes after homework.”
- What instead: “Walk, game, talk, book.”
- Exceptions: “Travel days / emergencies.”
Make it cooperative
Kids follow rules better when they helped shape them. Mom&Dad Tracker can help you run the conversation with prompts and reduce power struggles.
Quick checklist
- Pick 2 rules maximum for the first week.
- Write the “why” behind each rule.
- Agree on one replacement ritual.
- Review weekly for 5 minutes (Mom&Dad Tracker).
Turn rules into routines
Social Pause supports parents in the micro-moment (don’t open). Mom&Dad Tracker supports the family agreement and weekly review.
